Screen Printing has always been a passion of Shane's since he was a young artist in Upstate NY in his teens. He has been a self taught Screen printer since 1989 in High School in Pine Plains, NY, where he started his first company called "Ruff Draft T-Shirt Factory" and printed T's for lots of local businesses and started designing his own creations. He had a small flyer of his shirt designs that he would mail out and take to local retail stores in Rhinebeck, NY & Woodstock, NY. After Graduating High School in 1991, he went off to art school in Maine at the Portland School of Art (Now MECA) and continued screen printing occasionally on the side for years. After moving to Dorchester, MA in 1994 he started to screen print on paper and began a large body of work over the coming years that were more similar to Abstract Monoprints than Screen prints. He began to show his screen printing in cafes and galleries throughout New England and the Boston Area, as well as a small gallery in Dublin Ireland. Moving forward to 2009 while he was just in the early years of starting his own freelance design business, from the encouragement of his partner, Walt, he decided to get back to designing and printing T-shirts full time and create a line of unique hand printed T's. Below are some of the designs he has created since 2010, there are hundreds of designs in his collection and more being added just about every week. He designs and hand prints all of the designs in his Southern Maine Studio. Most are available on his T-shirt site BurlyShirts.com, (along with other handmade items), as well as about 25 select retail stores around the US, Canada, Australia and Europe. He also travels the country 8 to 10 times a year to vend at shows in Chicago, Dallas, DC, Cleveland, Providence, Provincetown, Lexington, Las Vegas and others.
